Catalan Fauna Workshop

The Catalan Fauna activity at the Zoo teaches students about the main characteristics of the vertebrates in our country in an entertaining manner that is adapted to their ages.
It consists of a short slide show of representatives of Catalan fauna. Furthermore, the images reveal aspects that cannot be directly observed at the Zoo.
Observation and handling of different objects coming from animals in our collection
When leaving the classroom, the students are given a guided tour by a Zoo educator (biologist) around the grounds in order to learn more about the following contents:

• Explanation of the different natural habitats in Catalonia.
• Frame Catalan fauna in the overall ecosystem of the Mediterranean and of the Iberian Peninsula.
• Identification of the most representative species of our fauna that are close to human and wild habitats.
• Learn about the most threatened species of Catalan fauna.
  
• Measures for the conservation of Catalan fauna: protected areas, legal protection, the contributions of zoos, reintroductions, etc.
