The Mammals Workshop

The Mammals Workshop teaches students about the main characteristics of vertebrates, with teaching adapted to their age.
Students are first given a brief introduction in the classroom, during which they are shown slides of the main types of mammals. Furthermore, the images reveal aspects that cannot be directly observed at the Zoo.
They also have the chance to look at and handle different materials coming from animals in our collection.
When leaving the classroom, the students are given a guided tour by a Zoo educator (biologist) around the grounds in order to learn more about the following contents: 

• Comparison of the different types of movement and types of limbs depending on the medium in which they move.
  
• Observation of the different types of teeth arrangement according to what they eat.
• Study of mammal reproduction: viviparity.
• Identification and modifications in skin protection and fur.
• Sensory organs most used by this group: sight and smell.
• Location in nature of endangered mammal species.
