Combination Workshop

To get the maximum benefit from the Combination Workshop, we recommend that you do some work at school on the following aspects before taking the workshop, both by discovering their natural environments and in other areas (art, body expression, oral and written expression, maths, etc.).

To understand the students’ interests and increase motivation about the animals:

• Recognise the noticeable aspects about the animals: size, shape, colour, etc.
• Show excerpts from documentaries in class on farmyard animals, wild animals and horses.
• Collect books, stories and songs about domestic and wild animals.
• Note down the questions that the students ask about the wild animals and study them later.
• Imitate the sounds made by various farm animals.

To observe animals:

• Ask the students who have pets at home to bring them to school to show them to the rest of the class and study them. (It can also be done without the animals. In this case, have the student give an explanation about the pet and bring in pictures to show their classmates).
• Go to pet stores. La Rambla in Barcelona is a perfect place to go.
  
• Watch animals in the wild, whether in the schoolyard or on outings to the forest or countryside.
• Visit a traditional farm.

As specific objectives:

• Classification of animals into wild and domestic.
• Identification of the different uses that man has for domestic animals (transport, food, pets, etc.).
  
• Description of the products that mankind obtains from animals: wool, brushes, meat, etc.
