Wild Animals Workshop

When reaching the Education Department, the class group will be welcomed by the Zoo educator (biologist), who will then accompany the children to the preschool classroom. There will then be a presentation in the classroom about how the activity works and about the animals they will be working with: the elephant, the wolf, the macaw and the fish.

The study of the morphology of these four animals and their different body parts will be done using a giant jigsaw puzzle of each animal. Students have to put the parts of the animal’s body into the right places and say what each of them is for.

They then describe and differentiate the three basic types of external layers: feathers, scales and fur. The type of food each animal eats will be explained with artificial foods.

The students must place the different foods they think each animal eats under the animal. The basic movements of the animals will be studied by putting different drawings of animals with the element in which they think they move: land, water or air.

Then there will be a guided tour of the Zoo, in which explanations about the animals will continue.  The group can stay at the Zoo until closing time.
