Wild Animals Workshop

To get the maximum benefit from the Wild Animals Workshop at the Zoo, we recommend that you do some work at school on the following aspects before taking the workshop, both by discovering their environments and in other areas (art projects, body expression, oral and written expression, maths, etc.):

To understand the students’ interests and increase motivation about the animals:

• Make a compilation of songs about wild animals: elephants, wolves, fish and some bird.
• Have the children bring in any books, photos, cards, activity sheets or other materials about elephants, parrots, wolves and fish that they can obtain.
  

To observe animals:

• Have an aquarium to watch living fish in the classroom.
• Have the students look at animals in the wild, whether they are sparrows, pigeons or swallows in the schoolyard or others seen on outings to the forest or countryside.
  

As specific objectives:

• Recognise the noticeable aspects about the animals: differences in size and shape of elephants, wolves, fish and parrots.
• Identification of the animal’s different body parts and their functions.
• Understanding of the idea of wild animal.
