The Biodiversity Workshop on ecosystems at the Zoo reveals both the complexity of living beings and the delicate relationships existing between these beings in a participative method adapted to the students’ ages.

This workshop is presented in a specially equipped classroom, where the educator (biologist) explains the outline of the activity and supervises its running.

The class is divided into four sub-groups, where each will study aspects of the biodiversity of living beings with the support of materials and a study guide. All students rotate around the different tables.

The contents studied are:

  • Discovery of the classification of living beings into five kingdoms.
  • Introduction to the classification of vertebrates, highlighting the fact that they are a very small group of the animal world and going deeper into the classification of mammals.
  • Study of the equilibrium of an ecosystem: food chains and networks.
  • Importance of biodiversity for the survival of ecosystems.
  • Energy transfer in ecosystems: food chain pyramids.

The tour of the grounds is done with the teacher (with the assistance of an audio guide) (upload audio guide route).
