Activity designed for compulsory secondary school (ESO) students.
Students will discover the main species present in our natural environment. At the Barcelona Zoo, we have a representation of all the groups of vertebrates from the fauna in our country, particularly the most threatened and, therefore, whose reproduction in captivity is most urgent. Studying them lets students understand how this species adapts to our natural environment.
The collection at our Zoo also devotes special attention to Catalan fauna and, in some cases, species that are already extinct in Catalonia, such as the Iberian wolf and the brown bear. There are also animals like deer, fallow deer and wild goats, difficult to observe in nature, as well as specimens of otters, Majorcan midwife toads, Hermann’s tortoise, common shoveler, common sultana birds and storks, which are the object of interesting reintroduction projects.
When the activity finishes, the group can spend the rest of the day at the Zoo, until closing time.
