Africa is the third largest continent in the world and is considered by the scientific community to be the place where human life began.

Fauna

Africa has a great diversity of wild animal species, amongst which in particular are large carnivores, such as lions, hyenas and leopards, and herbivores, such as buffalos, elephants, camels and giraffes.  In addition, a large variety of jungle creatures also live on the continent, amongst which are snakes and primates, and aquatic life, such as crocodiles and amphibians.

Flora

The northern half of Africa is mainly desert or arid land, while in the central and southern parts there are savannah plains and areas of very dense jungle.    In the intermediate area of the African continent there is a convergence of landscapes dominated by patterns of vegetation such as today’s Sahel and steppe regions.

Climate

High temperatures predominate across most of Africa.  Even so, the climate and weather of the continent vary enormously in the different areas. The tropical, subtropical and temperate zones are to be found to the north and south of the equator.
