Scientific committee

Ciutadella Park Zoo’s scientific committee now carries out a support and assessment task and takes a more operational and managerial approach and is set up as a Scientific Evaluation and Monitoring Committee. It is made up of an interdisciplinary team which, in terms of each member's base training, will maintain a balance between zoologists, biologists, ethologists, anthropologists, veterinarians, psychologists and other professionals.

Every year, the Scientific Evaluation and Monitoring Committee will replace a third of its members. This is to ensure the continuity of its work as well as transparency and expanding membership of the Committee to people from society in general.

Its functions are to:

1
Assess the suitability, viability and alignment of research projects with the Research and Conservation Programme guidelines.
2
Assess the quality of its agents, project financing applications and anything else that is required prior to the financing being approved, in order to provide support and guarantees of transparency for the projects selected. Evaluate periodically the progress of research projects to ensure their quality levels.
3
Evaluate the results obtained and analyse the extent to which the objectives have been met.
4
Inform appropriate magazines so that they publish the results.
