Improvements made following your suggestions

In this section you will find the improvements made at the Barcelona Zoo stemming from the suggestions and opinions of our visitors. We thank you for your contributions; your voice is vital to the future of a zoo that belongs to everyone. We listen to our customers’ views and make improvements based on feedback we receive. Among the topics proposed during the year 2010, the most requested relates to the concern of visitors about the welfare of the inhabitants of the Zoo. This year, in line with this concern also shared by the Zoo, we have opened two new facilitie:

• Land of the Dragons exhibit, an area that authentically reproduces the natural habitat of Komodo dragons and incorporates the first 3D audio zoo experience in Europe.
• Giant Anteaters exhibit, which as been remodelled taking into account the needs of animals and the standards established by international zoo associations.

The second reason most requested services we offer are different and in this respect, we have also introduced important improvements:

• Renovation of the internal signals of the Park to optimize your visit to our facilities.
• New Green Classroom, which enhances our facilities for children.
• Creation of a new Green Point, which in addition to improving waste management processes at the Zoo has become an ideal training and information space.

The following most requested improvement was to increase the number of animals at the Zoo. We have responded with the addition of a pair of giant anteaters, a female emperor tamarind from the Mulhouse Zoo (France) to form a new breeding pair and a male red-necked wallaby from Rhenen Zoo (The Netherlands).
