Protection of the hedgehog colony
Objective
To protect and expand the existing colony of hedgehogs at the Zoo through the radio tracking of individual specimens.
Actions
Actions being undertaken within the framework of this project include studying and monitoring the population in the Zoo. During the summer and fall, several nocturnal surveys have been carried out which involved more than 20 people, who have identified a minimum population of more than 38 specimens (all identified and marked). Based on this unpublished data and since it is an urban population, protective measures have been proposed. The data from this project are of high interest and value due to the uniqueness of this population. Results of the project will be published in scientific and specialised journals.
