Protection of urban avifauna

Objective

Protect and monitor birds currently at the Zoo.

Actions

This project includes a number of actions, such as cooperating with Barcelona City Hall and Thalassia in the protection project of the raven (Corvus monedula), and the placement of nesting boxes. Adhesives have also been placed in large windows in the form of large hawks at the Zoo’s facilities, to avoid the frequent fatal crashes of birds passing through the Zoo. The black spots have been located and a record has been established. In addition, nesting birds in the Zoo have been monitored, and the beds have been adapted to protect birds nesting in the underbrush. Feeders have been placed for the insectivorous birds, especially tits, bluethroats and robins.
