Spaces in the Zoo

Marmosets gallery

The Titi Monkey Gallery is one of the facilities in Barcelona Zoo that is most visited and most admired.  It was constructed in 1990 to house a sample of the smallest primates: the South American Titi Monkeys.

Currently seven species of these primates live together in the gallery: the Goeldi monkey, the white faced monkey, the pygmy marmoset, the golden headed lion tamarin, the emperor tamarin monkey, the golden handed tamarin and the cotton top tamarin.

The facility consists of a series of indoor living areas, where the temperature and humidity are controlled to ensure the well-being of the animals that live there. Outside, a number of small islands of vegetation with shrubs enable the monkeys to sunbathe when the weather allows.
