PALMERA SCHOOL MAKES THE WORKSHOP OF THE GREAT INVASIONS!

EDUCADORS

The boys and girls of the two classes of 4rt of primary have premiered our workshop that works, in 4 tables, the invasive species that we have in Catalonia! They are great invasions, often silent !.

To begin with, a small introduction is made to concepts worked on at school with the practical case of the apple snail, seeing invasive species in the Zoo, and the solution to which they have arrived in order to remove it from the ecosystem is requested.

Once in the classroom, we first introduce them to the most numerous invasive species we have in our territory, they have to find out where they are from and which native species they affect. They can also see the species they have worked on in class, before visiting us, as an introduction to the workshop!

Then they work on how these species arrived in Catalonia, why they did it and what are the consequences of their presence.

In the following table, they see what happens when these invaders are introduced into a food chain, of an ecosystem, working on a case study: the American mink.

And finally, they know that native species can also be invasive in other places, outside their territory. Here they make great discoveries and see where Catalan species are invasive!
